Jamieson Primary School combines with the Merrijig School to form a single team when we compete against the Mansfield Primary school in the athletics program. This is usually held in March/April. The children also participate in a Swimming Carnival between the two rural schools. In all these activities, the students have the opportunity to have their performance recorded and thus qualify for the regional sport competitions and Zone Sporting events.
Students receive tuition in swimming and tennis, which is fully funded as part of the Sporting Schools Program.
These funds cover transport, lessons and equipment.
The school offers an 8-week program in Alpine skiing, fully subsidised, from Prep to Grade 6. We have taken part in the Interschools competitions from time to time, depending on parent and students willingness.
The school is fortunate enough to offer the services of Danny Cahill, a professional tennis coach. Lessons are conducted at the Jamieson tennis court. Jamieson Primary School fully funds these sessions as part of the Physical Education program.
